Clinton and me
Today BNR (Business News Radio) had exclusive interview with former US president Bill Clinton. Clinton had interesting story about a recent small scale project in Ethiopia bringing light with solar power http://www.bnr.nl/static/jspx/play.jspx?datum=22/12/2008&tijd=12:38:00&lengte=15&titel=Titel, it brought back memories of my own project 10 years ago.....
Ten years ago my girlfriend was working as a trainee medical doctor in Zambia. She told me about the large amount of child death due to lack of vaccination. I set up a project to bring a solar panel, a fridge for cooling vaccinations and light to one of the most remote places I have ever been, a small health care post in a village in Zambia.
Thanks to fund raising among friends I raised enough money for the solar panel and lights, the Dutch embassy donated the fridge.
My trip there and installing the light and panel was one the coolest things I have done and since my A2000 homepage is resolved long time ago I decided to bring it back to live with this small blog post :-)
And yes Mr. Clinton bringing electricity to Africa using solar power is a great idea ;-)
